Just for today, I am working on giving my own bad behaviors over to my own higher power and recognizing that my behaviors and my friends are my choice only, as are yours.

Just for today, I will not bring up your friends with you. I find addicts and dealers with possibility of weapons very threatening and have excluded all possibility of conversation with anyone who might be in this category for the time being. I appreciate that you have made that a boundary not to text or talk to them for the few hours we are together.

Just for today, I appreciate the shore that I moved here for. I recognize that I and other citizens regardless of race/creed/fishing experience have a right to enjoy the shoreline in any legal manner without any unwelcome behavior from users/dealers–including you and your friends–toward me or anyone I see there.

Just for today, I recognize that doing this could set you off. If it does and it threatens me, I am at peace with informing your parents, our work, the police, and youtube.com to compel my right to be left alone by them and by you should I choose it.

Just for today, my choice is to be OK with myself and how I will react toward anyone who violates legal standards of behavior. If that means you, I accept that.

Just for today, I will be OK with my pain and grief.
Just for today, I accept that he can continue to be addicted. That his mother can continue to enable and not reach out after I took the first ninth step with her.
Just for today, I accept that my addict prefers the cocconing back into his mother and his social circle more than he prefers this relationship.
And just for today, I will rely on Good Orderly Direction and my friends in the fellowship over my co-dependent need to appeal to him for yet another one last time.
Not just for today, but for all days, please pray for me.

Just for today, I accept that she– like his druggie friends — will feel the need to call or text when we have our together time.

Just for today, I have come to peace that this cannot last forever. He will have to choose, and whatever he chooses is ok.

Just for today, given that it is Tax Day, I carry severe resentments toward anyone who would cripple the addict like a human pet.
