Hi, I’m Leslie
My 29 year old son is an addict and has been since he was 16. He’s now homeless, jobless and has no friends and most of our family has turned their back on him…… but me. I’ve grown up myself with alcoholism surrounding me and have stayed the sober one in my family unit. The REAL struggle is my son…. I’ve been to many AlAnon meetings but am now choosing to turn to NarAnon. I live in Florida and am having a hard time finding meetings. I ran across this site and am giving it a try.
I myself have been battling stage 3, triple negative breast cancer and have been extremely I’ll for the past 3 years. I’m so ready to just LIVE LIFE and do so in a positive manner.
I’m hoping to find some support and encouragement here…..???
Thanks in advance,
Leslie

Hi Leslie, I’m sorry to hear about your son. As you are aware, all of us in Nar-Anon have lived and experienced the devastation this dreaded disease has not only on the addict, but those who care about them the most. My own son struggled with opiate abuse for at least ten years. He has been in recovery now for 3 years. I’m glad you found this group. Please plan on attending our meetings in the chat room. They are at 9:00 P.M. Eastern time on Mondays and Thursdays, and 8:30 P.M. You will soon feel welcome, and can learn a lot about how to start your own recovery and deal with active addiction. Hope to see you soon.

Hello Leslie!!

I am sorry about your son and your health issues. That’s definitely a lot of stress to be going thru. As Doug said, the meetings here are very helpful. Hoping to see you soon so you can begin your own recovery on your way to serenity.

My son, also, is my addicted loved one. He’s a heroin addict that finally chose to get clean and stay clean. It took time for him to hit his bottom but he did. He’s now been clean for almost 15 years.

There is ALWAYS hope. Please stay strong and God bless you. I will pray for you and your son. Hoping to see you soon in the chatroom.

Your Trusted Servant,
Robin
