Hey yâall, so Iâm here struggling more than ever. My sister has been an addict nearly 26 years now. She has made the progression through the multitude of drugs starting with pills and currently using multiple different drugs at the same time including meth. She has lost everything including her youngest 2 children, she is homeless and using her body to finance her addiction. She stole my wallet was I was in labor and charged over 5k before I even knew it was gone. She introduced her oldest son to drugs a few years back. They have both been in jail/prison for extended times and came out to immediately use again. Our whole family has had all we can take with the situation. It seems neither will ever be free of their addiction. The latest bust also included my nephews girlfriend and her 2 small children. This girlfriend was pregnant on meth and now in jail . She was released and days later gave birth. I got a call from CPS to take custody of the baby right from the hospital. I now know the intensity of holding this sweet girl as she screams from withdrawal. Er visits prove worthless as there is no care plan in place as of yet for infant withdrawal of meth. CPS wants me to allow visitation w the mother and Iâm having a really hard time not being angry beyond words or overly protective of this cub. I donât know how to be ok with this…
Addiction is a horrific disease, especially when it involves a newborn. I am surprised the hospital discharged the baby without him/her withdrawing first. I can tell you first hand that there is definitely a protocol for babies born addicted are withdrawing. Hope you find your way to the online meetings. They have changed everything for me…
