I am new to this support family, but not new to the experiences of family members with addictions. My nephew and sister have been in treatment and recovery for a couple years. I have played a huge role with my nephew since his mom has been out of the picture due to her addictions. It's been a tough and challenging journey for all of us. Learning to not enable my nephew and give him tough love has been very hard.Especially only leaving him the choices of making things happen to recover, or live on the streets. But it has been a huge turning point in his recovery, and has taught me a lot of lessons. Still a big mess with my sister, which really hurts my nephew, but he too is having to learn how to love her from a distance and take care of himself first. This whole journey has consumed so much of e it's unreal. But I know I have been put through this to help others. I'm grateful to be here and see all the support on this forum. Thank you all for being here for each other.
