Hi, my name is Lisa. I am looking for support and knowledge. My 21 year old son is an addict. He is in a court appointed rehab program right now. He has had a problem since high school which has continued to get worse. His biological father was also an addict, his substance of choice was alcohol. It's been a long rough road and I know it will continue to be, but I am ready to focus on me and my recovery.

Hi Lisa,
Welcome to step one of the 12 steps on Nar-Anon. Which is "We admitted we were powerless over the addict-that our lives had become unmanageable." Most of the new comers to Nar-Anon struggle with this step and often times get stuck on it. There are times when we think we are in this battle alone but when you get involved in a Nar-Anon Family group you quickly discover that there are others that are going through or have gone through it as well. I suggest you find a group in your area and sooner rather than later. If you go to ** you do not have permission to see this link ** and search "meetings" you should be able to find a group near you. Also check out their literature – there is a book called "SESH" I strongly recommend you get that. Work the steps my friend. Jimbob
