Hello, my family is grieving the loss of my nephew. We are in the first week of the initial shock. If anyone connected to this chat group has experience, strength, and hope to share with me about grief after an addict dies of an overdose, I welcome your responses.
I have 33.5 years in a sister family fellowship preparing me for this event. My father is an addict in longterm recovery, as well. My brothers, surviving nephew, and sister-in-law are not (yet) in recovery, despite my introduction to family programs over these past 2 years. They are getting outside help.
Thank you, Nar-Anon, for the unique valuable resources offered by this program and fellowship. The booklet for those of us in the throes of grief is like an oasis for me: “Continuing Our Journey After Loss–We Still Belong”. If any here need or want your own copy of it, the official Nar-Anon website offers an easy option for where we can buy it online.
Thank you very much. From the depths of my heart, AuntMar
